Week#1 - Introduction to Recroom Renovations

Good morning everyone,

This morning I'm going to blog about the renovations that we are planning for our recroom. At the moment our recroom is Adrien's playroom and my weight room.  This room measures 12' x 18' and has a woodstove on the south wall. There are many changes we want to make to this room. First and formost we want to take the drywall of the bottom of the the east and south walls and put up knotty pine.  Yesterday I bought 328 square foot of knotty pine and stored it in my shop for it to dry. I'm using the same stuff that I used in our recroom upstairs in my shop. This room will become our second recroom as we have one in our shop already.

We want to add a 30 inch door in the west wall. We will use this new door to bring our wood cart near to our woodstove.  Right now we need to go around and we are always cleaning up wood chips across our basement floor. The next diagram shows this.

The west wall (where the new door is added) will be entirely covered with knotty pine.  We are not sure what we will do with the north wall.  I need to add 3 receptacles on this wall and I'm not sure how I'm going to get electricity there.  This is were we plan to put our new plasma TV.  As for sound we will use the system that we have in our other recroom.  We replaced that one with a new theatre system.
We are also changing our drop ceiling and putting in pot lights.  I will speak about them next week. My plan is to start working on this project this week but I'm pretty tired. The next pictures four different angles of our current recroom.
